Seville, the place of The Barber of Seville and Royal Tobacco Factory (Real Fábrica de Tabacos) where Carmen worked, loved and died, attracted our attention as possible vocation city of 2012. After spending several days in Madrid, we took a train to the main place of our destination. Our plan was to spend at least five nights in the city to explore it better. And for this purpose we needed a hotel in the historical center of Seville with good accommodations. We selected Corral del Rey for its central location in the old city and good ratings.

Please do not consider this 15-minute video as a tourist guide pretending to present most interesting things you can find in Seville. It is not a guided tour of the city - even if you will find in our movie many famous tourist attractions that make Seville a major destination for those who travel in Spain. We spent one week in Seville enjoying architecture, art, food and people. Our strongest impression - the harmony and balance between the city's history visible any place you go and its nowadays modern life. That explains the name of our video - "Seville that Vanishes - Seville that Comes."

This is a short movie about Madrid, a traditional and at the same time modern city, the capital of Spain. There is no special idea behind this film; it does not pretend to provide any guidance or tips for tourists or show even its most well-known attractions. We like to explore places here we go on feet walking streets, visiting places that often are missing from most tourist books, talking to people and looking around in an attempt to do our best in understanding the essence of the place.

This web page and photo gallery was inspired by Rick Steves' Snapshot Madrid & Toledo book, the 1173-page guide which can be especially useful for the first-time visitors covering all essential for tourist information about Madrid. What attracted my attention is the description of a self-guided "welcome to Madrid" tour describing a short but packed with many interesting things itinerary with which first-timers can start their exploration of Madrid. Our photo gallery follows very closely suggested itinerary and compliments Rick's verbal description with images related to places along your way.

Visiting Madrid on our way to Sevilla in spring 2012, we decided to stay in hotel Preciados. Its location seemed to us very convenient being in the center of the old city with the main tourist attractions as Palacio Real, Catedral De La Almudena and Puerta Del Sol within walking distance. Hotel Preciados, (calle de Preciados, 37, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain) occupies a refurbished 19th century building.
