In Part 1 of the article on the United States Botanic Garden I mentioned the annual orchid exhibit that usually takes place from January to March. The garden features hundreds of exquisite flowers in this family of plants the size of which, as I learnt from the exposition, is four times greater than the total number of mammal and bird species. Indeed, orchid diversity as well as its mesmerizing and seductive beauty is undisputable. This virtual gallery of orchid photos taken during this event is an attempt to illustrate the point.
