This brief posting is more a tip than a review. If you are in London, most likely you are going to visit its Chinatown. Do yourself a favor and visit Tai Ka Lok, a tiny Chinese restaurant specializing in Cantonese roast duck, roast and crispy lean pork, suckling pigs, soy chicken and some other yummy stuff.

There is not much to say about this place - it's a small and will not score high points for cleanliness and decor. But food is fabulous. I can guarantee that once you have tried them, you will never forget the deliciousness of mouth watering dishes you find here. They are really the best in town. In fact, in Chinatown, you can find other places with similar offerings - one of them is very close, on the other side of the street. However, none of them can offer duck and pork as as palatable as at Tai Ka Lok.

If you are the first-timer, you may find service efficient but a bit reserved. In reality, the staff is very friendly. Their menu is very extensive, but I recommend you should focus first on duck and pork. There are several dishes offered of each, but they will be happy to give you any combination of what they have to taste each and every variety of their cooking. Tai Ka Lok's special fried rice would make a wonderful side dish.

Londoners know and appreciate this place: I bet take-away business is even more profitable for Tai Ka Lok than its restaurant. While eating you will certainly notice people picking up small and not so small bags with food. Keep in mind, this restaurant takes only cash. But prices are low - a substantial lunch for two will cost you about £30 (2009 prices) including beer. So, come and enjoy - you will not regret.

That is how chopping is done at Tai Ka Lok before the food is served.

According to this note, Tai Ka Lok (London Chinatown) has recruited the famous barbecue master Mr. Tham from Hong Kong to prepare food at this restaurant.
